Hi! I’m Tamara and I’m a graphic designer living and working in Toronto.
I specialize in branding and identity design, but my passions also include illustration and type design.
I see myself as a visual storyteller. My job as an identity designer is to put a “face to the name,” capturing the unique beauty, personality and story of your business and giving you the visual tools you need to share it with the world. Seeing the excitement and pride on my client’s faces when they “meet” their brand for the first time is incredibly rewarding for me. It’s why I do what I do (and love it)!
Of all the work that I’ve done as a professional, branding small businesses has always been the most rewarding and enjoyable. I come from a family of small business owners and am a small business owner myself. I have experienced the joy and the satisfaction of running my own business. I have also been faced with many challenges that required problem-solving, developing and shaping my skills as a designer.
I have always been a visual thinker, and from a young age, I was very interested in branding and logo design. I remember the summer before grade 5… spending a whole day after our back-to-school shopping trip happily creating “branded” labels for all of my colour-coded notebooks and supplies—featuring a custom hand-lettered font and matching stickers. For me, it came naturally as a form of self-expression. I like to think that even as a 9-year-old, I had a designer’s intuition and an understanding of the power of branding. My interest eventually led me to study Graphic Design at George Brown College, from where I graduated with an Advanced Graphic Design Diploma in 2015.
When I'm not working at my computer I love to nurture my inner artist and craftsperson. As our world becomes more and more digital and mass-produced, I find myself feeling nostalgic for a time when we used our hands more to create beauty. I love all sorts of visual art techniques and mediums but my favourites are drawing and print-making. I’m also really into building my handicraft skills like sewing and knitting!
My Business Values
I want to produce designs that will make my clients excited and proud to share their business with the world.
Life is meant to be lived. If I can give my clients a product that will help them work a little less then I feel like I’ve done my job well.
I want to use my skills to fight mass consumption/production and I'm dedicated to helping small businesses succeed.
